You know when your TV remote's batteries are on its last legs; you can barely get it to turn the TV on let alone change the channel from BBC News to E4 to watch 'New Girl'?!
If you have never experienced that, then you have lived a blessed life and just try and imagine what it is like. If you have experienced it, you understand the struggle that I am describing.
You are sat comfortably on your couch with your cup of tea in your hand - it has been a long day. Then to your dismay, the depressing news comes on and you grab the remote desperately trying to change the channel but it is unresponsive. You sit there, willing and praying for it to work because you do not want to walk over to the TV and manually change the channel yourself. The struggle is so real.
After a fair amount of time, with no sign of life coming from your remote, the decision has to be made - sit through the depressing news hoping that 'David Attenborough: Planet Earth' will be on next or get up and change the channel.
Well, I think life is like living with a broken TV remote. Regardless of whether you have worked so hard all day and have no energy to get up and change the channel over and regardless of whether it is beyond unfair that your remote refuses to work as you changed the batteries the night before, if you want to change the channel over, you are going to have to physically get up and change it or get over it.
No matter how unfair, not matter how much you want it to - if you want to see change, get up and change it - that is just life.
